Getting started
A five-minute tour: make a document, draw two shapes, connect them, tidy the result and save it.
Create a document
Section titled “Create a document”Rivoli Diagrams opens a blank untitled document at launch and offers the template gallery once per session. You can always choose:
- File ▸ New (
⌘N): a blank canvas in a new window. - File ▸ New from Template… (
⇧⌘N): start from a flowchart, org chart, network or other starter diagram. The template replaces the contents of the current window. - File ▸ Open Recent: reopen something you were working on.
Draw two shapes
Section titled “Draw two shapes”- Press
S(or click Shape in the ribbon’s Tools group) to pick the shape tool. - Drag on the canvas to draw a rectangle. Release, and it stays selected.
- Type to give it a label: the in-place editor opens as soon as you start typing. Press
⎋or click away when you are done. - Draw a second shape below the first.
Connect them
Section titled “Connect them”- Press
Cfor the connector tool. - Drag from the edge of the first shape to the second. Connection points highlight as you approach a shape.
- With the connector selected, the Inspector on the right sets its line style, arrowheads, routing and label.
Tidy up
Section titled “Tidy up”- Select both shapes (drag a marquee, or
⌘A) and use Arrange ▸ Align ▸ Horizontal Centers. - Or let the app do it: Arrange ▸ Auto Arrange (
⇧⌘L) lays the whole diagram out for you. - Arrange ▸ Smart Route Connectors re-routes every connector orthogonally around the shapes.
Save and share
Section titled “Save and share”⌘Ssaves a.rivolidiagramdocument (older.diagram.jsondocuments keep saving as themselves). Rivoli Diagrams uses the standard macOS document system, so autosave, versions, Rename, Move To and Revert To all work as you expect.- File ▸ Export… (
⌥⌘E) writes PNG, PDF or SVG. - File ▸ Print… (
⌘P) prints the active canvas.
Where to go next
Section titled “Where to go next”- The canvas and the tools: zoom, grid, guides and units.
- Arranging and automatic layout: the fastest way to a tidy diagram.
- The AI assistant: describe a diagram and have it drawn.
