Styling and themes
Style one object in the Inspector, then spread that style across the diagram with copy/paste style, the eyedropper or a theme.
The Inspector
Section titled “The Inspector”The Inspector on the right edits whatever is selected. With nothing selected it shows document properties instead: title, author, canvas size, grid, units and rulers. Canvases themselves are renamed from their chip in the canvas bar, not here.
For a selected shape it offers:
- Fill: shape kind, fill colour, an optional gradient, and opacity.
- Stroke: border colour, width and dash pattern.
- Shadow: a drop shadow toggle with its parameters.
- Text: font, size, weight, alignment and colour for the label.
- Geometry: exact position and size in the document’s unit.
- Action: a hyperlink or other action the object runs.
Select several objects and the Inspector header reads Multiple Selection; every style edit then applies to all of them at once.
Reusing a style
Section titled “Reusing a style”| Command | Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Copy Style | ⌥⌘C | Picks up the style of the selected object: fill, stroke, shadow and text, without its geometry or label. |
| Paste Style | ⌥⌘V | Applies the copied style to every selected object. |
| Style Eyedropper | ⌥⌘I | Turns the pointer into an eyedropper: click a source object to pick up its style, then click each object you want to paint. Choose the command again, or press ⎋: to turn it off. |
Themes
Section titled “Themes”View ▸ Theme applies a coordinated palette to the whole diagram in one undoable step. The built-in themes are Cool, Sunset, Forest, Mono and Vibrant.
Each theme appears in two sections, and the difference matters:
| Section | Effect |
|---|---|
| Apply: Keep My Colors | Colours only the objects you have not deliberately coloured. Anything you or the AI assistant styled by hand keeps its colour. This is the safe choice for an existing diagram. |
| Recolor Everything | Overrides every shape and connector, discarding hand-picked colours. Use it to reset a diagram to a clean palette. |
The chosen theme is remembered with the document, so new objects pick up matching colours. Both variants are a single undo (⌘Z) away.
